For the purposes of education I dreamt up a fictional restaurant Shiba Sushi - a wonderful Japanese restaurant located by the ocean serving delicious sushi. In this exercise I took the plunge into brand identity design with the purpose to learn new tools, primarily the Adobe suite. During two weeks of exciting work I got my hands dirty with everything from 3D modelling and animation to sketching and tracing vector graphics. The result can be found down below.
Since Shiba Inu is a popular native Japanese dog, the client wish to have a Shiba Inu on a bed of rice, resembling nigiri in a cute and cuddly Japanese style. The logo should work on packaging and other possible accessories. The writing on the logotype is Japanese for Shiba Inu Sushi written in kanji characters for an authentic feel.
Seigaiha, which means blue sea and waves, is a traditional Japanese pattern resembling ocean waves. The wave pattern reflects the restaurants naval feeling and the blue color works as a contrast to the red primarily color.
